Young Translators Contest

The Directorate for EU Affairs has been organising the “Young Translators Contest” since 2010 and senior class students studying at the translation and interpretation departments of the universities are eligible to take part in the Contest.

The Contest aims to raise awareness regarding Turkey’s EU process and the acquis translation among the students studying translation and interpretation in Turkish universities, as well as to contribute to the training in this field.

During the Contest, the students translate an EU text from one of the three working languages of the European Union (English, French and German) into Turkish. The winners of this Contest are awarded with a certificate of success and have the chance to visit the European Union institutions in Brussels.

Since 2010, 1.258 students have participated in the Contest.
