Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme 2023-2024 Academic Year Scholars Gathered in Brussels

Within the scope of the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme funded under the Instrument for Pre- Accession Assistance (IPA), scholars from the 2023-2024 academic year gathered in Brussels on May 23-24, 2024, for the Brussels Study Visit.

The visit programme started with an opening address by Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Permanent Delegate of Türkiye to the EU. This was followed by speeches from Ambassador Willem van de Voorde - Permanent Representative of Belgium to the EU, and Ambassador Bálint Ódor - Permanent Representative of Hungary to the EU.

The program continued with visits to the European Parliament and the European Commission. The scholars received interactive presentations on the Parliament's roles and responsibilities, Commission's role and duties, digital transformation in the EU and Türkiye-EU relations. The program was finalised by a visit to the House of European History which highlights the process of European integration and cultural heritage.

 

Directorate for EU Affairs is the beneficiary of the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme. The programme has been implemented since 1990 and has supported around 3000 scholars. Scholarships are granted for graduate or research level academic studies related to Türkiye’s EU harmonisation process and the EU acquis for a period of 3-12 months.
