“EU Support for Earthquake Recovery & Participatory, Inclusive and Green Recovery for Local Public Services in Earthquake-Affected Regions Project (PACE) Local Administrations Conference” Held in Hatay

Following the February 2023 earthquakes, a large-scale conference was held in Hatay on April 1, 2026 to introduce the activities carried out in Türkiye with EU financial support, as well as the “Participatory, Inclusive and Green Recovery for Local Public Services in Earthquake-Affected Regions Project” (PACE), for which the Directorate for EU Affairs is the main beneficiary and coordinator.

The opening speeches of the “Rebuilding Stronger Together: EU Support for Earthquake Recovery & PACE Project Local Administrations Conference” were delivered by senior representatives from national and local authorities, the European Commission, the European Union Delegation to Türkiye, international partners, and partner institutions.

With the participation of representatives from the EU and EU Member States’ diplomatic missions, messages of solidarity and support for the earthquake-affected region were conveyed. In addition, panels featuring expert speakers addressed topics such as post-earthquake economic recovery, improvement of local service delivery, and access to green finance.

The pilot projects of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya, which were awarded support under PACE Project, were also formalized following the “PACE Pilot Projects Signing Ceremony.” 

The PACE Project jointly funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is coordinated by Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs in collaboration with the Directorate General for Local Authorities of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Union of Provinces and The Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT). The project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)
