PROJECT SUMMARY

Brief description of the project and main objectives
 

This Project improves the environmental conditions in Türkiye by implementation and enforcement of the EU environmental acquis in the frame of ambient air quality.

This project aims to establish the necessary capacity within Ministry of Environment and Forestry to transpose and implement National Emission Ceilings Directive (2001/81/EC) in Türkiye.

Achievements / expected outputs

• Transposition of National Emission Ceilings (NEC) Directive was fulfilled.
• National emission inventory and emission projections with various scenarios for four pollutants (SO2, NOx, VOC, NH3) were developed.
• Regulatory Impact assessments for the implementation of different NE Ceilings were done.
• An agreed long-term comprehensive strategy to improve the air quality for pollutants defined in NEC directive was developed.
• Required institutional structure, technical capacity and procedural arrangements defined and developed to implement NEC Directive.
