The Political Consultations Between Türkiye and France were held

The political consultations between Türkiye and France were held under the co-chairmanship of Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs and Ambassador Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, Secretary General of Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, in Paris on 21-22 May 2019.

During the political consultations, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı met with Secretary General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ambassador Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, as well as President of the Commission for European Affairs of the National Assembly of France Sabine Thillaye, President of French Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense Christian Cambon, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the French Senate Jean Bizet and the members of the Committees.

Bilateral relations, Türkiye’s EU accession process and regional developments were discussed in detail during the consultations. Emphasizing the importance of Türkiye’s EU accession process for both Türkiye and the EU, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı added that Türkiye will not accept any alternative to the full EU membership.

Deputy Minister Kaymakcı also met with the representatives of the French Business Confederation (MEDEF) and the Turkish community.
