Publicity Meeting of EU-Türkiye Anatolian Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Institute Project is Held in Gaziantep
Publicity Meeting of EU-Türkiye Anatolian Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Institute Project is held in Gaziantep Zeugma Museum Culture and Congress Center in 14 February 2015 by Participation of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır.
In the publicity meeting, Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin, Ankara University Head of the Department of Prehistory Prof. Dr. Işın Yalçınkaya, Head of Zeugma Archeological Excavation Prof. Dr. Kutalmış Görkay, Academic Member of İstanbul University Department of Prehistory Prof Dr. Mehmet Özdoğan, Archeologist Nezih Başgelen, Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Director of Museums Abdullah Kocapınar and Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır gave a speech.
Significant national and international activities will be held in the fields of archeology, intercultural dialogue and conservation of cultural heritage within the EU-Türkiye Anatolian Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Institute Project which will be implemented by Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. Establishment of an international Archaeology Institute is planned within the project which has a budget of 10 million Euros. The Institute is aimed to make Gaziantep a center of attraction in the archeology world. Within the context of the project; an international archeology fair, themed tours and workshops and international conferences will be held. Developing international internship programs and establishing an extensive library are among other activities of the project. The project will contribute to a sustained civil society dialogue between Türkiye and the EU as well.
