Prof. Beril Dedeoğlu, Former Minister for EU Affairs, Passed Away
Former EU Minister Prof. Beril Dedeoğlu passed away at the age of 58. Prof. Beril Dedeoğlu, was appointed as the Minister for EU Affairs in 2015, is a member of Türkiye’s Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Committee since October 2018.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı expressed his condolences saying, “As Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs, with great sorrow we’ve learned that our former EU Minister Beril Dedeoğlu passed away. We will be grateful for her contribution to our EU accession process and to the academic world. We pray for God's mercy, and wish patience for her family and friends.”
Prof. Dedeoğlu was graduated from Galatasaray High School, followed by the undergraduate degree from Istanbul University’s Department of International Relations in the Faculty of Economics. After achieving M.A. and PhD degrees at Istanbul University International Relations Department, she continued her academic carrier at Galatasaray University. She was a prominent figure in international relations studies in Türkiye as she has valuable works covering researches, articles and books in the field of European Union, international policy and international security.
