Türkiye Received the Most Grants from the First Call of the Black Sea Programme

There was intense participation of Türkiye in the first call of the Programme which included eight countries, in the 2021-2027 period. Within the scope of the call, which received not only the most project applications from Türkiye, but also the most projects were accepted from our country.

The 2nd Monitoring Committee meeting for the 2021-2027 period of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Cross-border Cooperation Programme, for which our Directorate for EU Affairs acts as the National Authority, was held. Representatives of the National Authorities of Türkiye, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and officials from TESIM, which provides technical support to the Cross-border Cooperation programmes under the European Neighborhood Policy, European Commission and Managing Authority attended the meeting held in Bucharest, Romania.

During the meeting, where our Directorate was represented by a delegation from the Department of Cross-border Cooperation, the Monitoring Committee approved the projects to be financed under the first call for proposals of the 2021-2027 period of the Programme. According to Monitoring Committee decision, totally 33 projects are awarded to be financed under the first call, with a co-finance budget of 35,77 million EUR while 27 of them have Turkish partners and thus Türkiye became the first country in ranking in terms of number of projects and awarded grant.

In this meeting, the process of the second call for proposals to be announced in the end of March 2024 were also discussed. Accordingly, while draft guidelines for applicant of the second call will be published for public consultations, info days and partnership forum will be organized in April and May 2024. Lastly, post-2027 period of the Programme was mentioned in the meeting as well.
