The Subcommittee No. 8 was held between Türkiye and the European Commission on Customs, Taxation, Drug Smuggling and Money Laundering
The 18th Round Meeting of the Sub-Committee No. 8, which is one of the eight sub-committees operating under the Türkiye-EU Association Committee, was hosted by Türkiye on 27-28 April 2023. The meeting was co-chaired by Elif Kurşunlu, Director General of Relations with the EU, and Bernard Brunet, Head of Türkiye Desk from European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations.
At the meeting attended by the relevant Turkish public institutions and the relevant directorates from the European Commission, discussions covered five chapters namely Chapter 23 Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, Chapter 24 Justice, Freedom and Security, Chapter 4 Free Movement of Capital, Chapter 16 Taxation, and Chapter 32 Financial Control under the framework of our negotiation process with the EU.
Both delegations exchanged information on the latest developments and ongoing efforts in the judicial system, fundamental rights, migration and border management, visa policy, fight against organized crime, police cooperation, anti-terrorism, anti- corruption, financial control and taxation in Türkiye and in the EU.
