Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU
Ireland took over the six-month Presidency of the Council of the European Union as of 1 July 2026.
The programme and priorities of Ireland, which assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the eighth time, were announced on 10 June 2026.
Under the motto “Strength with Unity”, the Ireland’s Presidency identifies “competitiveness”, “values” and “security” as its main priorities.
