Hungary Took Over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from Belgium
Hungary took over the six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union from Belgium on July 1, 2024. The Presidency program of Hungary, which will assume the EU Presidency for the second time, was announced on 18 June 2024.
The motto of the Hungarian Presidency is “Make Europe Great Again”. The main priorities of the Hungarian Presidency will be a new European Competitiveness Deal, European defence policy, consistent and merit-based enlargement policy, stemming illegal migration, future of cohesion policy, agricultural policy, and addressing demographic challenges
