Horizon Europe Informative Meeting on Researcher Supports for Universities and Research Institutions

The Remote Informative Meeting/Info Day  on Researcher Supports for Universities and Research Institutions within the scope of Horizon Europe Program, which is the 9th Framework Program of the European Union to be implemented in 2021-2027, was held on 29 March 2021, hosted by the Directorate for EU Affairs, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and TÜBITAK.

The deputy minister Mr. Kaymakcı stated that the Directorate of European Union, Universities, Tübitak and YÖK could act together to create a great synergy in the Horizon Europe programme and universities should consider to mainstream a long term research and innovation perspective in their strategies. He also underlined that in order for Türkiye to benefit more from Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programmes, project offices should be competent and well supported to write projects.

The online meeting, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK)Prof. Dr. Rahmi Er, was held with the participation of more than 370 participants as university rectors, deputy rectors, academicians, representatives of leading public research institutions and researchers.

In the meeting, TÜBİTAK experts informed and promoted researcher support for universities and research institutions within the scope of Horizon Europe in the 2021-2027 period.

 

The Horizon Europe Program is the largest research and innovation program ever with a budget of 95.5 billion Euros which will be implemented with the aim of contributing to the development policies of the EU and increasing its global competitiveness, effectively coping with global and social difficulties by strengthening scientific and technological basis and establishing effective scientific cooperation. The Program will be implemented through the main pillars of "Global Challenges and Industrial Competitiveness, Excellent Science and Innovative Europe" in the period of 2021-2027 and industrial organizations, SMEs, researchers, universities, research centers, public institutions, NGOs and international organizations can apply.
