The closing ceremony of the “Supporting Turkey’s Efforts to Manage Migration” Project financed under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) 2013 programme has been held on 28 May 2021 with a protocol in accordance with social distancing measures. The beneficiary of the project was the Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM) and the project in its successful implementation of 4 years has increased the national capacity in preventing irregular migration, fight against human trafficking and a more effective implementation of regular migration. It has also contributed to the harmonisation of the legal and managerial legislation with EU standards and it has increased regional and international cooperation.
The closing ceremony was opened with the speeches of Tommaso DE CATALDO, Coordinator of the Migration Management Programs at UN Migration Agency (IOM), Andre LYS, Director of Financial Cooperation at the Delegation of the EU to Turkey, Deputy Director of DGMM Mehmet Sinan YILDIZ and Director General of Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at the Directorate of EU Affairs Bülent ÖZCAN. The ceremony ended with the introduction of the Expanded Migration Profile Report of Turkey presented by DGMM and the IOM.
