Brief description of the project and main objectives |
The primary objective of the project is to enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation capacity at the local level in Türkiye. This involves supporting local authorities to adopt the EU’s “net-zero-cities approach” through the development of climate-neutral, smart and resilient urban areas. |

Achievements / expected outputs / results |
Establishment of “Climate-Neutral, Smart and Resilient Cities Mission for Türkiye.” Capacity building and support for at least 10 municipalities in aligning their planning with national policies and developing green project investment pipelines. Development of urban action plans to enhance climate neutrality, resilience and smart cities including synergies with financing institutions for investment opportunities. Creation of a national platform for cooperation among municipalities, academia and stakeholders to promote climate-smart urban planning. Increased collaboration with EU initiatives and best practices in climate adaptation and neutrality. |
