|
Brief description of the project and main objectives |
The primary objective of the project is to support Türkiye’s transition to a circular economy by implementing the upcoming National Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan in six key sectors. This includes promoting resource efficiency, integrated waste management, and the use of circular economy business models (e.g. industrial symbiosis, secondary raw materials, alternative fuels) across sectors and municipalities. |

Achievements / expected outputs / results |
Türkiye is better equipped for its transition to a circular economy through the following outputs: Revisions of national legislation on circular economy to align with EU policies. Preparation of sectoral roadmaps for six key sectors: textiles, plastics, packaging, electronics & ICT (Information and Communication Technology), batteries & vehicles, and food & biomass. Implementation of sectoral roadmaps in six pilot cities, with local cooperation mechanisms (e.g., repair workshops, second-hand shops). Establishment of a monitoring database for circular economy requirements in key sectors. Revision of the National Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan based on pilot results. Capacity building through training, awareness raising, and dissemination activities. Sharing best practices from EU countries with pilot cities. Social behavior assessment on circular economy practices (waste prevention, separate collection, recycling). |
