The Affordable Energy Action Plan has been published.

On 26 February 2025, the European Commission published the “Affordable Energy Action Plan” to reduce energy prices, complete the Energy Union, attract investments in the energy sector and be prepared for possible energy crises. In the press release, it was stated that the action plan includes short-term measures and is a component of the EU Clean Industrial Deal. It was indicated that the measures cover not only households facing high energy bills but also industry facing high production costs. According to the estimates made within the scope of the plan, the amount of savings, which is expected to be 45 billion Euros in 2025, is expected to gradually increase to 130 billion Euros by 2030 and 260 billion Euros by 2040.

In the press release, the importance of investing in clean energy and infrastructure to make energy more affordable was emphasized and it was stated that the aim was to make the gas market more transparent and equitable. Finally, the European Commission has defined eight actions under four pillars: lowering energy prices, completing the Energy Union, attracting investment and being ready for crises.
