2024 Cross-border Cooperation Committee Meeting Held
The annual Cross-border Cooperation Committee Meeting was held this year under the chairmanship of Bülent Özcan, Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation of the Directorate for EU Affairs, with the participation of representatives of public institutions.
During the meeting, the Committe was informed about the current status of the Interreg Cross-border Cooperation Programmes for the 2021-2027 period. In this context, discussions were held with the relevant institutions participating in the meeting regarding the prospective actitivities aimed at adaptation to climate change measures and prevention and management of climate change related fires, as one of the intervention areas of the 2021-2027 Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme. Within the scope of the first call for the 2021-2027 period of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, the projects at the signature stage and the results of the last call were discussed. The results of the first call of the Interreg NEXT Mediterranean Basin Programme, in which Türkiye participates for the first time in the 2021-2027 period, and the details of the other three calls to be opened every year during the period were shared with the participants.
The meeting also covered the possibilities of cooperation with other funds and projects under the Interreg Programmes. Post-2027 period as well as the technical issues related to the implementation period were also on the agenda of the meeting and the opinions of the representatives of the relevant public institutions were received.
