A workshop titled "Effective Use of the EU Solidarity Fund Mechanism in Türkiye" was organized
A workshop titled "Effective Use of the EU Solidarity Fund Mechanism in Türkiye" was organized within the scope of TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange) Mechanism on 8-9-10 July 2024, hosted by Directorate for EU Affairs.
Representatives from the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Board of Treasury Controllers, the Central Finance and Contracts Unit, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Health, AFAD and from the İlbank attended the workshop where the experiences of Croatian and Italian experts who worked in the EU Solidarity Fund processes in their countries were shared.
The Workshop was held on 8-9 July 2024 in Ankara with the presentations of experts from the Croatian Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets and the Central Finance and Contracts Agency, and on 10 July 2024 it continued as an online workshop with the presentations of experts from the Italian Civil Protection Agency.
Following the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake disaster on February 6, 2023, the EU provided 400 million Euros under EU Solidarity Fund to Türkiye in order to support reconstruction efforts in the provinces of earthquake region. The coordination of the fund in our country is carried out by the Directorate for EU Affairs, the Presidency of Strategy and Budget and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. The grant of 400 million Euros will be used in areas such as the construction of temporary shelters, hospitals and schools, reconstruction of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure and restoration of cultural heritage buildings in the earthquake zone.
