Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı met with Neighbourhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı met with Neighbourhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi on 6 September 2021 at the Directorate for EU Affairs.
Deputy Minister Ambassador Kaymakcı has briefed Commissioner Varhelyi on technical dimensions of Türkiye-EU relations. In this framework, Ambassador Kaymakcı gave detailed information on the portfolio of the Directorate for EU Affairs regarding accession negotiations, political reforms, IPA and Union Programmes as well as Communication Strategy.
Ambassador Kaymakcı underlined the importance of updating 18th March Statement in its entirety and in this respect, he referred to the strengthening of Türkiye’s membership perspective, update of the Customs Union, Visa Liberalization Dialogue, cooperation on counter terrorism and migration and high level dialogue mechanisms.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı reiterated candidate status of Türkiye and the need to take concrete steps to implement positive agenda between Türkiye and EU.
