PROJECT SUMMARY

Brief description of the project and main objectives
 

The purpose of the project is to enhance Türkiye’s capacity on implementation of EU POPs Regulation through increasing capacity of national stakeholders, identification of contaminated sites and demonstration technologies for POPs contaminated sites.

Ankara and the pilot sites to be selected within the scope of project

Obtained Results / Expected Outcomes

Strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of the central and local authorities in the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.

Identification and classification of contaminated sites with POPs through the Contaminated Sites Information System.

Following the identification of contaminated sites in Türkiye, two pilot remediation studies will be operated in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders.

Increasing public awareness on POPs which pose a certain risk to both human health and environment.
