Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik evaluated the agenda
Regarding the statements of Jens Laerke, the spokesperson for United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, who stated over his twitter account “We witnessed a humanitarian drama in eastern Ghouta yesterday. Bombing resumed as soon as the aid convoy reached the area and we had to retreat”, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik said: “The entire world has allied for the humanitarian tragedy in eastern Ghouta but the regime continues to bomb humanitarian aid convoys.”
Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said the following:
Even while Türkiye declares that it will accept the civilians from eastern Ghouta, those who criticise Türkiye’s fight against terrorism only watch the massacre carried out by the Syrian regime. We frequently hear them say that there will be a very harsh response if the regime uses chemical weapons. These people do not take concrete steps even when the regime massacres innocent people with other kinds of weapons and attacks humanitarian aid convoys.”
Minister Çelik, referred to the saying “the Stone Age did not end because the world ran out of stones” and said that the United Nations system was collapsing not because the UN did not adopt resolutions but because nothing was being done against those who went against these resolutions and massacred the people.”
Minister Çelik said that those who were clearly supporting the PYD/YPG terrorism by saying that the situation in Afrin had weakened the fight against Da’esh should be asked why they were allowing the massacres in eastern Ghouta.
