Reform Action Group Meetings
The Reform Monitoring Group (RIG) was established in September 2003 in order to ensure the follow-up of the reforms made within the framework of alignment of the legislation in order to meet the Copenhagen political criteria and to ensure the effective implementation of the reforms. The then Minister for EU Affairs and the Ministers of Justice, Foreign Affairs and Interior participated in the meetings of the Reform Monitoring Group, which acted as a mechanism to identify and rapidly overcome any setback in practice.
The Reform Monitoring Group held 30 meetings between the years of 2003 and 2014.
As the phrase “monitoring” has a passive connotation, the Reform Monitoring Group” has been renamed as the Reform Action Group to better represent its active role with the approval of the then Council of Ministers in November 2014. To date, the Reform Action Group (RAG) held six meetings.
The VI. meeting of the Reform Acton Group (RAG) was held under the chairmanship of the President on 9 May Europe Day in Ankara, under the coordination of the Directorate for European Union Affairs, and with the participation of Minister of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Treasury and Finance and Minister of Interior. This was the first meeting of the Reform Action Group chaired by the President and held on 9 May Europe Day.
Press releases including the decisions taken in the meetings are available immediately after the RAG meetings. The dates and press releases of RAG meetings are enclosed below.
Furthermore, the Political Affairs Sub-Committee (SİYAK), consisting of high-level representatives from line Ministries and relevant institutions, gather prior to the RAG meetings in order to contribute to preparations.
