Türkiye's European Union Communication Strategy (EUCS)

"European Union Communication Strategy" started to be implemented following the adoption by Council of Ministers in 2010, was updated and announced to the public on 16 October 2014 in Brussels.

The recent developments in the international sphere, which result in a paradigm-shift in Türkiye-EU relations, created a need for strategic planning and implementation of intensive public diplomacy and lobbying activities, particularly at the primary international centres. Therefore, the updated communication strategy will be carried out with a perception-oriented and proactive approach by taking into consideration the new actors and priorities that have emerged and by identifying the most appropriate communication method for each target group.

"European Union Communication Strategy" is the third pillar of the "Türkiye's New European Union Strategy".

Prepared to ensure an accurate picture of Türkiye and to increase domestic and external support for Türkiye's EU accession process, Communication Strategy has two main components; Strategy for Türkiye and Strategy for the EU.

The Communication Strategy for Türkiye aims to increase the support of the Turkish people for the reforms by strengthening their conviction that the EU accession process is a modernisation and democratisation project which will promote living standards in all areas. The Communication Strategy for the EU aims to provide facts on Türkiye to help shaping a more accurate perception among the EU public. This part of the Strategy will help reinstitute mutual trust and set forth Türkiye's commitment, self-confidence and sincerity in the EU accession process.

Citizens of Türkiye and the EU constitute the main target of the New EU Communication Strategy. And the primary stakeholders are local, national and international institutions, civil society, universities, business world, media, and political actors.

Communication Strategy is enhanced by the opinions of all segments of society and is implemented through a participatory approach.
