Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay participated in “The Monitoring and Steering Committee of Erasmus+ and ESC”

The first meeting of the Monitoring and Steering Committee of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programmes under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay was held at the Turkish National Agency on 6 October 2025.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay emphasized that EU Programmes contributed significantly to strengthening our cooperation with Europe and building the capacities of our sectors through mutual learning.

Ambassador Bozay underlined that, above all, Erasmus+ and the ESC constitute the most active and dynamic area of cooperation within Türkiye–EU relations. He underlined that since the establishment of the National Agency, by participating in the EU's programmes in the field of education and youth, a fund of approximately 1,9 billion Euros were provided to more than 41 thousand projects in 20 years.

At the meeting, İlker Astarcı, President of the Turkish National Agency, briefed the Committee members on the Agency’s ongoing practices. Representatives from the National Agency and the Directorate for EU Affairs addressed issues related to the monitoring and evaluation of Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, as well as national and centralised project calls, promotion, and information activities.

Representatives from the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of National Education, AFAD, the Directorate for EU Affairs, the Vocational Qualifications Authority, İŞKUR, and the Council of Higher Education also took the floor to share their views and assessments.

Erasmus+ and ESC Programmes Monitoring and Steering Committee is a consultation platform established with the participation of relevant Ministries and institutions to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the programmes with our country policies in the fields of education, youth, sports, volunteering and solidarity in order to ensure the effective implementation of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes in our country.
