PROJECT SUMMARY

Brief description of the project and main objectives
 

The primary objective of the project is to enhance the management and adaptive capacity of protected areas in Türkiye to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change. This includes integrating ecosystem-based planning approaches to ensure the resilience and sustainability of ecosystems and their services.

Development of a national adaptive management strategy and climate change action plan for protected areas.

Preparation of a National Ecosystem-Based Spatial Planning Strategy, incorporating climate change adaptation measures.

Vulnerability assessments of protected areas and preparation of adaptive management plans integrated into ecosystem-based spatial planning processes.

Establishment of green infrastructure, ecological corridors, and restoration plans to support ecosystem resilience and connectivity.

Strengthening institutional and staff capacity through training, study visits and the development of guidelines and frameworks.
