Subcommittee No.8 Meeting was held online

In order to follow the developments regarding the alignment of the Turkish legislation with the EU acquis, 8 Subcommittees, under the Association Committee, were established by the Decision No. 3/2000 of the EC-Türkiye Association Council, dated 11 April 2000.

In this framework, the online meeting of the 17th round of Sub-Committee No. 8 on Customs, Taxation, Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering was held on 25-26 April 2022 under the co-chairmanship of Director General for Relations with the EU, Ambassador Başak Türkoğlu and European Commission Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Head of Türkiye Unit, Mr. Bernard Brunet, with the participation of all relevant public institutions.

Discussions covered Chapter 23 Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, Chapter 24 Justice, Freedom and Security, Chapter 16 Taxation, and Chapter 32 Financial Control. Both delegations exchanged information on recent developments and continous efforts both in Türkiye and the EU, with respect to the judicial system, fundamental rights, migration and border management, visa policy, fight against organized crime, police cooperation, fight against terrorism, fight against corruption, financial control and taxation.
