Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Directorfor EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı participated in the “EU Membership Process at Provinces 5: Konya” Event

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Directorfor EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı met with the representatives of the public institutions, local authorities and civil society organizationsin the event of the “EU Membership Process at Provinces 5: Konya”organised in cooperation with Konya Governorate on 22February2022.

The seminar program, which was held in a hybrid environment and started with the opening speech of Konya Governor VahdettinÖzkan, continued with Ambassador FarukKaymakcı's speech in which he evaluated Türkiye-EU relations. Kaymakcı gave information about the EU projects implemented in Konya and then answered the questions from the audience. The presentation of the Governorship of Konya on the EU projects implemented in Konya was followed by the National Agency's presentation on the Erasmus+ program and the European Solidarity Programme. Afterwards, information was given about IPARD rural development supports through the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK) with the aim of more investment in rural areas, more income for producers and more contribution to employment. Finally, experts from the Directorate for EU Affairs gave information about the Union Programs, Horizon Europe Program, Jean Monnet Scholarship Program and European College.

Ambassador Kaymakcı while emphasizing the importance of the determination and efforts of local actors in our EU accession process and stated that Konya, like all other provinces, holds an important place in this regard.
