The opening ceremony of Demining Project was held.
The opening ceremony of “Socioeconomic Development through Demining and Increasing the Border Surveillance Capacity at the Eastern Borders of Türkiye Phase-I” project was held on April 4, 2016 in Hilton Hotel, Ankara with the participation of Director of Turkish Mine Action Center Brigadier General Mr. Celalettin Çoban, UNDP Türkiye Resident Representative Mr. Kamal Malhotra, Minister of Defense Mr. İsmet Yılmaz and Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Mr. Ali Şahin. Funded under the programme of Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance and implemented by the Ministry of National Defense, the project aims to contribute to the prevention of illegal migration and cross-border crime on Türkiye’s eastern borders by clearing the border regions of mines and providing effective humanitarian border surveillance tools for a technologically supported modern border surveillance system in Van, Ağrı, Iğdır and Kars provinces of Türkiye.
