Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s Visit to Ukraine
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and accompanying delegation paid an official visit to Ukraine on July 17-18, 2014. On first day of his visit, Çavuşoğlu met with Mustafa Abdülcemil Kırımoğlu, leader of the Crimean Tatars.
On July 18, 2014, Çavuşoğlu met with Pavlo Klimkin, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Boris Lozhkin, Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine. After his meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, Çavuşoğlu underlined that Türkiye does not recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia. The two ministers agreed that Ukraine and Türkiye must sign the free trade agreement and improve their relations as soon as possible. Finally, Çavuşoğlu is received by Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko, President of Ukraine at a closed meeting.
