The opening ceremony of the Project “Strengthening the Audit Capacity of the Audit Authority” within the scope of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) was held in Ankara on 14 July 2023 by the beneficiary institution The Board of Treasury Controllers of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, which acts as the Audit Authority. The ceremony, in which an opening speech was made by the Director General of Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation of the Directorate for EU Affairs, was completed after the presentation of the Project.

The Project will be carried out jointly with the Croatian Agency for Audit of European Union Programs Implementation System (ARPA) within the scope of the twinning tool under IPA 2020 programming. The twinning fiche preparation of the subject project, circulation of fiche between the EU member states and project partner selection processes were completed in 2022, and following the contracting process in the first quarter of 2023 project activities started on April 3. The implementation period of the project is 8 months.

The specific objective of this project is to strengthen the Audit Authority (AA) capacities to provide assurance on the proper and effective use of IPA funds managed indirectly in Türkiye and to contribute to the accountability and effective functioning of the management and control systems of the structures entrusted with budgetary implementation tasks. The objective also aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in audit activities of the AA.
