The opening ceremony of ''Strengthening National Capacities against Combatting COVID-19'' project was held under the auspices of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, hosted the opening event of the "Strengthening National Capacities against Combatting COVID-19" project which will be implemented by Ministry of Health together with the World Health Organisation. The project which is funded under the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) with a budget of 5.300.000 Euros aims to develop the screening, diagnosis and treatment capacity of the Ministry of Health against potential epidemic threats, especially COVID-19.
Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe, Head of the European Union Delegation to Türkiye Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut and the World Health Organization representative Dr. Batyr Berdyklychev also made speeches in the ceremony held on 26 January 2021.
Ambassador Kaymakcı, highlighted the achievements of the Ministry of Health in combating COVID-19 and how Türkiye aided EU Member States regarding medical equipment in the beginning of the pandemic and expressed his appreciation for EU supporting Türkiye via this project.
