The Directorate for EU Affairs Race for Europe Day Cup Will be Held at the Ankara 75th Year Racetrack

As a part of the European Union Communication Strategy (EUCS), Directorate for EU Affairs Europe Day race organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs for EU Affairs in cooperation with the Turkish Jokey Club, will be held at the Ankara 75th Year Racetrack on Saturday, 25 May 2019, at 16.00.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye Gabriel Munuera Vinals, the Ambassadors of EU Member States and those who like horse races will attend the race, which is the ninth organised so far and which has become a tradition among the activities held for the celebration of 9 May Europe Day.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı will present the trophies to the owner and the jockey of the horses which have rankings in the race.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı said “We have celebrated 9 May Europe Day this year with a wide range of activities held in May, ranging from conferences and informative meetings in universities to fast-breaking dinners with Erasmus students and Syrians in Türkiye, from Europa-Orient rally to creating a European forest. Furthermore, Türkiye’s commitment to EU membership was underlined at the Reform Action Group meeting held under the chairmanship of our President on 9 May Europe Day. We will finalise the activities for 9 May Europe Day with the Directorate for EU Affairs Europe Day Race  to be held at the racetrack; this race reminds us of our EU accession process, which we continue with determination and enthusiasm despite all obstructions placed before us.”
