Evaluation on the Operation Olive Branch by Minister of EU Affairs Ömer Çelik

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik evaluated the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin. Minister Çelik stated over his twitter account “Operation Olive Branch has started upon the order of the Commander-in Chief. I wish all success to Operation Olive Branch.”

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik who pointed out that Türkiye was exercising its right to self- defence to safeguard its security and to protect the oppressed people of the region, said: “We are giving a necessary and most legitimate response to all terrorist organisations within the framework of our rights arising from international law.”

Minister Ömer Çelik stated: “Once again, Türkiye has proven that it is the most determined country in the fight against terrorism for the sake of the security of our country, our region and the world. It is obvious that policies which have created more chaos in the region by changing the names of terrorist organisations have only helped terrorism to flourish. Türkiye now stands on the most legitimate position against terrorism.”

Indicating that the policies of the ones who didn’t pay heed to our President’s warnings for months only brought more trouble and terror to the region, Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik also stated: “No doubt, policies that aim to form border security force out of a terrorist organisation will only bring more instability and terror to our region. Türkiye exerts its determination to fight against terrorism within the framework of law and legitimacy. A principled and most necessary operation has been launched. This operation, which is an olive branch for our friends and the oppressed ones is also a clear and uncompromising display of determination to fight against terrorist organisations. I wish all the success to operation Olive Branch.”
