Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı paid an official visit to Brussels

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı visited Brussels on 27-30 October 2021 to sign, on behalf of Türkiye, the agreements that ensure Türkiye's official participation in Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Programmes. On the first day of the Brussels programme, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı participated in the signing ceremony of the association agreements enabling Türkiye's official participation in the Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Programmes with the EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel. Following signing ceremony of the "Accession Agreements" pertaining to these three programmes, Deputy Minister Ambassador Kaymakcı met with senior representatives of the EU institutions and Belgian authorities within the scope of Brussels programme.



In this context, Ambassador Kaymakcı held meetings with Oliver Varhelyi, EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Nacho Sánchez Amor, European Parliament's Türkiye rapporteur, Vlad Gheorghe Nistor, European People's Party (EPP) Shadow Rapporteur for Türkiye, Pedro Serrano, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell’s Cabinet Chief, Monique Pariat, Director General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs, Henrike Trautmann, Director in European Commission Directorate-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Simon Mordue, European Council President Charles Michel's Chief Foreign Policy Advisor.


Within the margins of Brussels visit, Ambassador Kaymakcı met with Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and Jeroen Cooreman, Director-General for Bilateral Affairs of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Kaymakcı also attended the 29 October National Day reception organized by Turkish Embassy in Brussels.

  
During his Brussels visit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı met with members of the Turkish and foreign press, non-governmental organizations and business world representatives residing in Belgium, Jean Monnet Scholarship students, European College students and citizens' associations.
