Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik evaluated Austria’s decision to close down mosques and to deport imams

Minister for European Union (EU) Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik, responding to the decision by Austria to close down mosques and to deport imams, said: “Austria’s decision to close down mosques and to deport imams clearly shows how racism and islamophobia have held the Austrian government captive.”

Minister Ömer Çelik responded, in a statement over his twitter account, to the decision taken by Austria to close down seven mosques.

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said: “Austria’s decision to close down mosques and to deport imams clearly shows how racism and islamophobia have held the Austrian government captive.”

Pointing out that Austria was in fact damaging its own society with such decisions, Minister Ömer Çelik said “They poison their societies with racism and islamophobia. The Austrian chancellor signs decisions that spread poison all over Europe.”

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik underlined that every islamophobic decision made the racists, who poison democracy, even stronger, and said that some politicians in Europe produced a racist tsunami against their own societies with their islamophobic actions.

-“Fascism and anti-Semitism are concealed behind islamophobia”

Minister Ömer Çelik stated that the policies of hatred towards members of other religions in the past were today being directed against Muslims, and said: “If we go back fifty or a hundred years in history, we would see that today’s islamophobics are of the same kind of the then anti-Semitics.” Indicating that ideological fathers and grandfathers who those who produced islamophobia today used to produce anti- Semitism in the past, Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said “They hide their fascism and anti-Semitism beneath their current policy of islamophobia.”

Minister Ömer Çelik called on democracts in Europe as follows:

“Our democrat friends in Europe must be aware of the fact that the real goal of the islamophobics is to destroy European values and to poison European societies with racism. Believers of all religions should resist all together against this wave of fascism. The ones who target mosques will target synagogues and churches of other sects when they feel strong enough. History of racism in Europe testifies to this fact.”

- "New Berlin Walls"

Minister Ömer Çelik, said that, with these racist policies, new Berlin walls were being built from bricks of the policies of hatred and that these persons wanted to divide Europe with new walls of hatred.

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said “Today we have to all together protect mosques, synagogues and churches in Europe. This is the way to resist against fascism. The most effective antidote against poison of racism is democratic solidarity.

Minister Ömer Çelik underlined that “new bridges of humanity needed to be built against the ones who want to build new Berlin walls out of hatred policies.”
