YOUNG TRANSLATORS COMPETITION 2015
YOUNG TRANSLATORS OF 2015 ARE VISITING ANKARA FOR THEIR AWARDS
The winners of the Young Translators Competition 2015 held by the Ministry for EU Affairs will be awarded certificates in a ceremony to be organized in the Ministry on 8 April 2015, at 04.00 p.m.
The objective of the fifth competition held on 21 February 2015 is to increase the awareness of undergraduate students in translation departments regarding the European Union (EU) accession process and to contribute to the training of translators in this field.
91 students participated in the competition; 52 students competed in English, 24 students in German and 15 students in French language categories. The participatory universities of the competition are Ardahan University, Beykent University, Bilkent University, Boğaziçi University, Bülent Ecevit University, Çankaya University, Dokuz Eylül University, Ege University, Hacettepe University, İstanbul Arel University, İstanbul Gelişim University, İstanbul Kavram Meslek Yüksekokulu, İstanbul University, İstanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University, İzmir Ekonomi University, Karabük University, Kırıkkale University, Marmara University, Mersin University, Nişantaşı University, Okan University, Sakarya University, Trakya University, Yaşar University, Yeditepe University ve Yıldız Teknik University. During the competition, the students translated an EU text into Turkish.
9 young translators ranking the first, second and third from English, French and German language categories in the Ministry for EU Affairs Young Translators Competition will be awarded with a visit to the translation units of the EU in Brussels between 15 and 17 April.
