Opening of Chapter 33 to Accession Negotiations
Chapter 33 - Financial and Budgetary Provisions will be opened to negotiations at the 12th meeting of Intergovernmental Conference between Türkiye and the EU in Brussels on 30 June 2016.
At the Intergovernmental Conference, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Minister of Finance Naci Ağbal will represent the Turkish delegation while the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the EU will be represented by Bert Koenders, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands; and the European Commission will be represented by Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
The EU Acquis on Financial and Budgetary Provisions Chapter covers the rules on own resources necessary for the funding of the EU Budget with membership. This Chapter is closely linked with the policy areas on statistics, financial control, taxation and customs union.
With the opening of this Chapter, the number of chapters opened to negotiations will be 16.
