Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır will go to Strasbourg and Brussels on 10-13 May 2016 for official meetings at the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the European Commission.

In the European Parliament, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Bozkır will meet separately with Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament; Manfred Weber, Chair of the Group of the European People's Party (EPP); Gianni Pittella, Chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D); Syed Kamall, Chair of the Group of European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR); and Anna Maria-Corazza Bildt MEP, member of the European People's Party.

Minister Bozkır will also meet with Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

In his offical visit to Strasbourg, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır will exchange views regarding the recent proposal of the European Commission on visa-free travel for Turkish citizens in the Schengen area and Türkiye's reform process and accession process to the EU.

Minister Bozkır will go to Brussels after his visit to Strasbourg to meet with Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations as well as with other European Commissioners on the visa liberation process and the state of play in Türkiye-EU relations.

Minister Bozkır will also come together with Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Belgium in Brussels.
