The "European Union Solidarity Fund Delegation Agreement" was signed between Türkiye and the European Commission on 7 February 2024 in Brussels.
With the agreement signed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay representing Türkiye, and the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira representing the European Commission, at the ceremony held in Brussels, reconstruction efforts in the earthquake region will be supported after the earthquake disaster that occurred in February 2023.
Following the completion of the internal approval processes, a grant of 400 million Euros from the European Union Solidarity Fund is envisaged to be used in areas such as the reconstruction of hospitals and schools, reconstruction of water infrastructure, and the restoration of cultural heritage buildings in the earthquake region.
